Tamir Williams is an art historian and curator specializing in the fields of mid-19th to early 20th century American art, as well as contemporary art with a focus on photography, print media, performance art, film and video art, and issues of race, gender, sexuality, disability, embodiment, time, and temporality. Williams has done curatorial and public engagement work at various art institutions, such as the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Art Bridges Foundation, Philadelphia Museum of Art, ICA Philadelphia, and Gallery 400 at the University of Illinois Chicago. Williams received their PhD in History of Art from the University of Pennsylvania.
